Eye care under one roof

Visura Eye Care is an independent practice on Chapel Street, South Yarra, bringing optometry, eye surgery and an optical boutique together in one place.

Why one practice for every stage?

Eye care often means being passed between an optometrist, a specialist and an optical shop, repeating your history at each. At Visura, the optometrist who examines you, the surgeon who operates and the dispenser who fits your glasses work from the same records, in the same building.

Appointments are long enough to explain what we see, with images on screen. All optometrists and ophthalmologists at Visura are registered with AHPRA, and every referral, result and plan is shared with you in writing.

How we work

  • 01

    Time to explain

Comprehensive exams are booked for 45 minutes, so there is time to show you the images and answer questions.

  • 02

    Fees in writing

Any fee beyond a bulk billed exam is explained before a test or treatment begins.

  • 03

    Monitor before treating

Where it is safe to watch and wait, we do, and we tell you why.

  • 04

    Shared records

Your optometrist, surgeon and dispenser see the same notes, so you only tell your story once.

Inside the *practice*

What is the technology for?

  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Cross-section scans of the retina and optic nerve, used to detect and monitor macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and glaucoma.

  • Retinal imaging

High-resolution photographs of the back of the eye, kept on file so small changes can be compared between visits.

  • Visual field testing

Automated mapping of side vision, used to find and monitor glaucoma and some neurological conditions.

  • Corneal topography

A detailed map of the curve of the cornea, used for contact lens fitting, keratoconus checks and surgical planning.
